VIJAYAWADA: A distraught man committed suicide after his wife died in Ramavarappadu on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Gottipati Murali Krishna (45) and G Sravanthi.
According to the police, neighbours alerted them about the suicide around 11am. Reaching their home, the police found Sravanthi lying dead on the bed.
The police said Sravanthi might have died due to natural causes while Murali had hanged himself. Murali was suffering from skin disease and lung infection. He had gone to a private hospital for treatment on Monday morning and returned home after giving tests.
The police said Murali found that his wife had died in her sleep. A depressed Murali, impulsively ended his life. “Murali and his wife do not have any children during their 18 years of marriage and have been depressed due to ill-health for a long time. After his wife’s demise, Murali too ended his life,” Patamata sub-inspector Sudhakar told TOI.
A case has been registered under section 174 of CrPC (unnatural death) at Patamata police station.
