Vijayawada: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to extensively use technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen revenue administration and improve goods and services tax (GST) and other tax collections. He ordered the establishment of an AI-powered task force to analyse economic trends and support data-driven governance in line with the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision.Addressing a review meeting on state gross domestic product (GSDP) targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) on Tuesday, Naidu said continuous assessment of economic indicators was essential to achieve the state’s growth targets. The chief minister instructed officials to prepare monthly economic reports to analyse the state’s economic performance and track progress towards GSDP goals. He said reports prepared at regular intervals would help review the state’s economic position at state, district and field levels through monthly, quarterly and half-yearly data.Reviewing the KPIs set for various govt departments for the 2026-27 financial year, Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to improve indicators where the state is below the national average and formulate strategies to compete with top-performing states. He suggested introducing a scoring mechanism to assess departmental performance based on both achievement of targets and real growth outcomes. He said the focus should be on measurable progress and improving efficiency across sectors.Highlighting the economic impact of infrastructure investments, the chief minister said every rupee spent on infrastructure could generate up to 3.5 times higher economic activity. He directed officials to ensure that major projects create a multiplier effect on the state economy. Naidu stressed the need to increase gross value addition (GVA) across all sectors and focus on manufacturing, mining, trade and transport to accelerate growth. He said major projects such as Amaravati, Polavaram, ports and airports should be developed with a vision to expand economic activity and create new opportunities.The chief minister emphasised that AI and advanced technologies should be used not only for economic monitoring but also for improving tax compliance and revenue mobilisation. He directed officials to adopt technology-driven systems for GST and other tax collections to enhance efficiency and transparency. He also called for strengthening the capabilities of govt officials and employees. A state-level workshop will be conducted on July 2 and 3 to improve administrative skills and enhance implementation capacity.Naidu directed officials to focus on data-driven governance and strengthen institutional capacity to achieve the long-term objectives of Swarna Andhra. Chief secretary G Sai Prasad and senior officials from the finance, planning, agriculture, horticulture, transport and tourism departments attended the meeting.
