: After senior TDP leader K Atchannaidu’s arrest, Anti-Corruption Bureau (
ACB
) has now detained
Murali Mohan, personal secretary to former labour minister Pithani Satyanarayana for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore
ESI scam
at the Secretariat in
Velagapudi
on Friday.
Officials said that Murali Mohan is now working with the municipal administration department as a section officer after serving Satyanarayana. Satyanarayana succeeded Atchannaidu and became labour minister during the TDP regime. Officials said that their investigation established that when Mohan worked as personal secretary to the then labour minister, he had interfered and took percentages in the process of issuing purchase orders and clearance of pending bills .
So far, ACB has arrested 14 members including its ESI’s former director G Vijay Kumar, retired joint director (Kadapa) Dr V Janardhan, superintendent in the office of Director of Insurance Medical Services (DIMS), Vijayawada, MKP Chakravarthy, senior assistant, DIMS, I Ramesh Babu and Venkata Subba Rao, staff in Central Drug Store.
According to officials, they are now eyeing to arrest Satyanarayana’s son Pithani Suresh who has already filed an anticipatory bail plea at the high court. The high court has reserved its orders on Suresh’s plea .
Murali Mohan, too, has filed a separate petition seeking anticipatory bail at the high court which is yet to be granted as court had reserved its orders for another date.
