ACB arrests housing dept official, RI for taking bribe

Vijayawada: ACB sleuths caught two officials red-handed while accepting bribes on Friday. In the first incident, the revenue inspector of Tadigadapa municipality in Krishna district was caught while taking a bribe of 6,000 from a resident of Kanur village in Penamalur mandal for allotting the assessment number for his newly constructed house. He approached ACB after the RI, identified as Yarakaraju Venkata Subbaraju, demanded the bribe. In the other case, a resident of Vallipeta village in Laveru mandal of Srikakulam district was granted a house under Jagananna housing scheme in the name of his wife. M Kannam Naidu, work inspector (housing), demanded 13,000 to clear the bills, and was caught while accepting the bribe amount. tnn
