78-yr-old man, mentally ill grandson kill selves
Vijayawada: A 78-year-old man and his mentally-ill grandson (32) committed suicide on Monday by consuming sleeping pills. Police suspect that the duo, who lived in a house in Nawabpeta of Nellore, may have committed suicide more than two days ago.According to police, Dr. A Pradeep Kumar from Nawabpeta was running a hospital. He was married to Vijaya Lakshmi, daughter of Gopalayya from Satyanarayanapuram. They have two sons Dheeraj Kumar and Dinesh Kumar. After Vijaya Lakshmi died six years ago, Pradeep re-married. Dheeraj and Dinesh studied B.Tech. While Dheeraj went to London to study M.Tech, Dinesh started working in Hyderabad.Dheeraj was battling depression after his mother’s death and could not stay in London. He returned to Nellore and stayed with his grandfather Gopalayya. Dheeraj often visited his father and got money for expenses. He was also receiving treatment from a psychologist for his mental issues. On Thursday, Dheeraj went to his father and took the money. On Monday, the locals complained of a bad smell coming from their house. They broke the doors and found Gopalayya dead on the bed and Dheeraj on the floor. There were sleeping pills near the bodies. Pradeep lodged a complaint with the Nawabpeta police after receiving information about the incident.Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies for postmortem. They said that the duo committed suicide more than two days ago as the bodies were decomposed. Locals told the cops that Gopalayya often complained that it was getting difficult for him to live with Dheeraj.
