7 roads to Bhogapuram airport to be ready by monsoon: Vizag MP
Visakhapatnam: The Member of Parliament for Visakhapatnam, M Sribharat, stated that all seven priority roads connecting to the Bhogapuram Airport are targeted for completion before the monsoon season. He said all roads, except the Adavivaram-Sontyam stretch, have received approval for National Highway connectivity, which will significantly improve travel convenience for the public. Efforts are ongoing to secure a positive decision for the remaining stretch as well.It is recalled that seven key roads are being constructed and expanded for a hassle-free journey to Bhogapuram Airport from various corners of Visakhapatnam City. The MP, along with VMRDA Chairman Pranav Gopal and VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat, personally inspected the ongoing construction works of key approach roads leading to the Bhogapuram International Airport.The MP stated that road connectivity projects being jointly undertaken by VMRDA, GVMC and the Roads & Buildings Department for airport access are progressing at a fast pace. He informed that the 6.3-km road stretch from Thimmapuram to Marikavalasa is nearing completion. Similarly, the six-lane main road from Adavivaram to Sontyam is expected to become a crucial connectivity corridor for the city.He further explained that a portion of the Adavivaram-Sontyam road passes through forest land, and the required clearances from the state and central governments are in process. He expressed confidence that approvals will be obtained soon and stated that efforts are being made to complete the works by June.The MP also mentioned that the Nerellavalasa-Kothavalasa road is 65% complete and is expected to be finished by the end of April. The four-lane road from Boyapalem to Kapuluppada has reached 66% completion and is also likely to be ready by the end of April.He announced that the Bheemili-Dorathota road will be developed to a width of 100 feet. Since this project is under the Roads & Buildings Department, the tender process is currently underway, which may cause some delay. In the Pendurthi constituency, the Vepagunta-Pendurthi road works are being executed by VMRDA and GVMC, with a target for completion by the end of May. The road works from Vepagunta to Juttada are expected to be completed by June.The VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat stated that with support in land acquisition, construction permissions and public cooperation, the works are progressing swiftly. He added that necessary compensation and alternative arrangements are being provided to minimise inconvenience to the public. Major bridge construction works are also progressing simultaneously. He emphasised that all road works under VMRDA jurisdiction are being expedited to ensure completion before the onset of the monsoon season.
