VIJAYAWADA: Nellore police arrested six persons after a raid at a

cooking oil

manufacturing plant revealed the gang was involved in slaughtering cows in

Dagadarthi

forest and preparing cooking oil from the cow fat.

The accused have been identified as

Jaladanki Sumanth

, Subbu, Raja, Manda Thirupathaiah, Pittu Srinivas Reddy from Tadakaluru village, and

Gangasani Teja Reddy

from Anikepalli village in Murripadu mandal.

The accused would sell the adulterated oil to small biryani joints and tiffin centres in the district.

.Cops received information that the gang was collecting cow fat and boiling it in a container to prepare the oil. When the police raided the spot, the gang was slaughtering cows that had come to the forest area to graze.
