TIRUPATI: Four persons were killed in a road accident after the tractor they were travelling in overturned and fell into the Handri Neeva canal near Nambula Pulakunta in Anantapur district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Jakrulla Ansar (26), Sardar Alyam (19), Mohammed Jakrulla (22) and Mansur Ansar (22).
According to local police, all four were daily wage labourers who had migrated from Bihar to Anantapur and were working at a private solar power project near Nambula Pulakunta.
On Wednesday morning, about of them left for work from the labour colony to the power plant on a tractor. The tractor overturned and skidded off into the Handri Neeva canal, leaving four dead and two others grievously injured.
Passers-by rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies of the deceased from the canal. The injured persons in the incident were identified as Majid Ali and Jahangir Ansar.
Police have registered a case and shifted the bodies of the deceased to the local government hospital for autopsy.
