Vijayawada: In a major boost to flight connectivity, three new services—including one international route—will begin from Vijayawada Airport in phases starting April 10. FLY91 has opened bookings for its daily Hyderabad–Vijayawada flight from April 10, with double daily services from April 17. Jazeera Airways will launch a direct Kuwait–Vijayawada service via Saudi Arabia on April 13.
The Kuwait–Vijayawada service will operate thrice weekly—Monday, Wednesday and Friday—becoming the airport's third direct international route after Singapore and Sharjah. Currently, Air India Express and IndiGo operate flights to Singapore and Sharjah, though the Sharjah service has been suspended due to the West Asia conflict.
FLY91's Vijayawada–Hyderabad service will arrive at 7:10 am and depart at 7:30 am from April 10. From April 17, a second service will arrive at 10:10 am and depart at 10:30 am. Both will be operated with ATR 72 aircraft. Jazeera's Kuwait–Vijayawada flight will depart Dammam at 3:05 pm and arrive at 11:05 pm, returning at 11:50 pm to reach Dammam at 3:10 am.
AP Chambers of Commerce president Potluri Bhaskar Rao welcomed the new services, noting that Hyderabad is a major business hub and improved connectivity will benefit trade, industry and passengers. He added that the FLY91 network will also provide seamless access to onward destinations such as Goa, Sindhudurg, Kochi and Jalgaon, strengthening Vijayawada's role as an emerging aviation hub.
