2,000 saplings planted in a day under Miyawaki project at Kandukur

Tirupati: Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, along with state endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, launched the Miyazaki project at the TRR govt degree college campus at Kandukur on Saturday.Nellore MP told reporters that around 2,000 saplings were planted across the 2 acres land in a single day as part of the initiative. The project utilises the Miyawaki technique, which involves planting native species closely together to ensure rapid growth and high density.
Vemireddy asserted that the TDP-led NDA govt was committed to achieving 50% green cover in Andhra Pradesh by 2047 as part of the "Swarna Andhra 2047 vision". "Currently, Andhra Pradesh maintains 30% green cover, while Nellore district stands at 22%. The govt aims to bridge this gap aggressively over the next two decades," Nellore MP added.Anam Ramanarayana Reddy called for more "Urban Forests" (Nagara Vanalu) across the 50-acre college campus to combat rising pollution. He noted that these urban forests are critical to achieving sustainable development and providing a shield against the rising pollution levels seen in major cities like Delhi.The programme concluded with a call to action for local residents and voluntary organisations to partner with the govt in expanding such green pockets across the state.
