2 students drown in Palnadu irrigation tank
Vijayawada: In a suspected case of drowning, two students were found dead in a local irrigation tank at Jaggapuram village in Edlapadu mandal of Palnadu district on Sunday evening. While one them was in intermediate first year, the other was a class 7 student. Both belonged to Edlapadu and Boyapalem villages under Chilakaluripet constituency.According to initial reports, suspicion arose after the families noticed the students' slippers lying on the bund of the Jaggapuram tank. The boys had reportedly left home earlier in the day, but failed to return by evening, prompting worried parents to alert the police. It remains unclear whether the students had gone to the tank for swimming or to catch fish. Upon receiving information, Edlapadu police rushed to the spot and initiated a search operation. The bodies were recovered from the water and sent for postmortem examination. The deaths have cast a pall of gloom in the area, with grieving families demanding clarity on the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
