2 Andhra Pradesh students score 100 percentile in JEE Main
Visakhapatnam/Vijayawada: Two students from Andhra Pradesh achieved a perfect 100 percentile in JEE (Main) 2026 session one, the results of which were released on Monday. Narendrababu Gari Mahith and Pasala Mohith are among the 12 students nationwide to secure this rare feat. To put their achievement in perspective, over 13 lakh candidates appeared for the JEE session one this year.Speaking to TOI, Mahith said confidence is crucial for success in JEE. "Once you believe you have the passion and determination to crack the exam, the path becomes clearer. Self-confidence not only drives preparation but also helps overcome the pressure and uncertainty that the exam brings. Along with studying NCERT textbooks and revising the syllabus, I carefully followed the notes and strategies shared by our faculty," said Mahith, a student of Narayana Junior College in Tirupati.
Mahith's father, Narendra Babu, works in the private sector, while his mother is a homemaker. "I studied in Anantapur before moving to Tirupati for my intermediate studies. Besides academics, I regularly play cricket," Mahith added. When asked about his preferred branch or IIT, he said he would decide only after the JEE Advanced results are announced. "At present, I am also preparing for the board exams," he said.Pasala Mohith, another student who scored the perfect percentile from Andhra Pradesh, has an interesting background. Both his parents are govt doctors at Jammalamadugu in YSR Kadapa district. Having recognised his strong interest and aptitude in mathematics, they encouraged Mohith to pursue MPC in his intermediate studies. "After pursuing my initial years of schooling in Jammalamadugu, I moved to Vijayawada for classes 9 and 10 and for my intermediate studies. I want to join IIT Bombay after clearing JEE Advanced. Every week, I used to write a mock examination, which would be discussed in the evening with friends. The next day, the teacher would give us the answer sheets and explain the concepts, which helped us understand where we were faltering, whether in time management or conceptual gaps. In this way, I improved myself over the last two years and finally scored the 100 percentile," said Mohith, a student of Sri Chaitanya, Vijayawada.Deva Srivedh, also from Andhra Pradesh, scored over 99.999 percentile to top the country in SC category. The results were initially scheduled for release on Feb 12. However, the National Testing Agency later announced that the results would be published by Feb 16. As the results were released only after 6 pm on Monday, several students, who are set to appear for the CBSE board exams starting Feb 17, anxiously waited for their scores throughout the day.
