14 held in connection with TDP activist’s murder

Tirupati: Police arrested 14 persons in connection with the murder of a TDP activist at Nancharampeta village in Chillakur mandal of Tirupati district on Oct 21. Additional SP K Ravi Manoharachari said the 19-year-old deceased, identified as Mallarapu Hari Prasad, was killed in a pre-planned attack, which was the outcome of a long-drawn political rivalry between TDP and YSRCP-backed groups coupled with local land disputes. On the night of Oct 21, several persons surrounded the house at Nancharampeta where TDP activists Hari Prasad and Katayya were sleeping and it on fire. The mob also torched a bike parked in front of the house. When they ran out of the house to save themselves, they were cornered and attacked with knives and sticks. While Hari Prasad died on the spot, Katayya managed to escape. Chillakur police have arrested 14 persons allegedly involved in the crime. The accused were identified as Katta Rami Reddy, Dumpala Madhu Kumar, Dumpala Daniel, Mannem Moses, C Dinesh, Mannem Seenaiah, Mannem Manaiah, Dumpala Sai Krishna, Panabaka Manoj Kumar, Pamula Vishnuvardhan, K Vishal, Dumpala Yesu, Dumpala Chengamma, and Narapareddy Venkata Krishna Reddy. Rowdy sheets have also been opened against all the accused.
