Youth shot dead near wedding venue over land dispute in Mirzapur
Varanasi: A 22-year-old youth, who had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in Naribari village under Dehat Kotwali area of Mirzapur district on Friday night, was shot dead by some miscreants near a railway track at some distance from the venue.According to Mirzapur ASP (City) Nitesh Singh, Bhootnath Raidas of Rajapur village has lodged a named FIR against Bundila of their native village in connection with the death of his son, Ajay Raidas. In the complaint, Bhootnath alleged that Bundila was attempting to encroach upon residential land adjacent to their house and had threatened to kill his son when opposed. The ASP said police teams have been deployed to arrest Bundila at the earliest.Ajay had gone to Naribari village on Friday evening for his relative Suraj’s wedding. While guests were busy with the jaimala and feast, he was shot dead by unidentified assailants near the railway tracks, a short distance from the venue.The murder came to light when a wedding guest went near the railway track to relieve himself and found Ajay’s body in a pool of blood. His alarm triggered panic at the ceremony. Dehat Kotwali police reached the spot, identified the victim, and called his father and family.
