VARANASI: A seven-year-old boy was killed by his cousin for property in Sabbalpurkala village under Jamania police station in Ghazipur district on Sunday morning.
According to reports, Teju (7) of Sabbalpurkala village was having lunch in his house on Sunday morning when his cousin Shiv Mangal (20) raided the place and slit his throat with a blade. When their grandfather Ramnath, an ex-serviceman, opposed him he attacked him with a stone and again targeted Teju before running away.
Teju's mother and Shiv's sister raised an alarm after which villagers caught Shiv. They thrashed him before handing him over to the police. On receiving information SP Ghazipur UC Srivastava also reached the incident site.
During initial investigation of police it was revealed that Teju's father had died due to lightening a few years back. Since then Teju and his mother were residing with the family of Shiv and Ramnath. Shiv, a student BSc, was studying in Allahabad and had arrived home 15 days back. Shiv confessed that he killed Teju as he wanted entire property in his name. Police sent the body for postmortem.
