VARANASI: Demanding her money back from her relative cost Ranjana Singh (30) dear as she was burnt alive by debtors in Sarhari village on Monday night.
According to reports, Ranjana was married to Sunil Singh several years back. About three years back, Sunil had given Rs 1 lakh to his maternal uncle, Parmanand Singh of Sarhari village when the latter was in crisis.

But, Parmanand did not return the money. For the past few weeks, Sunil had been ill and his family needed money for his proper treatment.
To take the same money back, Ranjana and his sister-in-law Munni visited Parmanand's residence three days back. However, instead of returning the money, Parmanand and his family members quarrelled with them. Ranjana stayed back, saying she would return with the money. When she was sleeping on Monday night, Paramanand's son Shivam alias Sholey set her on fire. On hearing her cries, villagers rushed to the incident site and took the severely injured Ranjana to SPG hospital where she succumbed to burns on Tuesday morning.
The police were also informed. Sunil's brother Ashwini lodged a named FIR against Parmanand and Sholey in this connection. Both the accused persons are absconding. Police have detained Sholey's brother Hariom for interrogation.
