Woman killed, son injured as trailer crushes SUV in UP’s Mau

Varanasi: A woman was killed and her son was critically injured after a trailer overturned and fell on top of their SUV under Kopaganj police station area of Mau on Friday evening.
The accident occurred on the four-lane road in Kachi Kala, when a speeding trailer went out of control and fell on top of the moving SUV. The woman, identified as Gayatri (65) and her son Prashant Pandey (36), both residents of Varanasi, were trapped inside the mangled SUV and were brought out by using a bulldozer and a crane. The two were rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared Gayatri dead on arrival. Prashant was referred to a higher medical facility in a serious condition. According to police, the mother-son duo was returning to Varanasi after visiting their ancestral village in Surajpur. The accident caused a massive traffic jam on the four-lane road and it could be cleared only after few hours.
