. The miscreants also opened fire on him when he offered resistance, injuring him. Jeweller Manoj Verma (40), was on his way home in Keshavpur, Sajanwa on Friday evening. As soon as he reached at his house, two miscreants on a motorcycle accosted him at gunpoint.
One of them snatched his bag containing cash, gold and silver ornaments and opened fire on him. Despite being injured, the jeweller raised alarm. People gathered around him. The miscreants opened fire in the air and escaped. Manoj's family members rushed him to Sahjanwa primary health centre, from where doctors referred him to BRD Medical College. His condition is critical.
SSP Pradeep Kumar reached the spot and directed to launch search operation. The jeweller's 10 years old daughter gave description of the appearance of miscreants. She said that the miscreant who opened fire at his father was clad in blue jeans and shirt.
Woman commits suicide, family claims dowry death A-26-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling in her house at Seehapar in Sahjanwa. Suchita, wife of Ram Prasad Yadav, was found hanging on Saturday morning. The family members called police but before the cops reached, they laid her body on a bed. Cops sent the body for postmortem examination.
Suchita's father Sudarshan Yadav, a resident of Pidia village in Bansgaon, registered a complaint against her in-laws. He accused that in-laws had allegedly demanded Rs 80,000 and a motorcycle. Suchita was married three years back but she was being harassed for dowry.
Motorcycle set on fire after accident On Friday night, an SUV hit a man near Neena Thapa Intermediate College in Shahpur. A mob torched a motorcycle parked in front of the house of the SUV owner.
Jitendra Prajapati (30), who owns a tailoring shop in front of College, was going to market to buy vegetables on his bicycle after closing his shop. Ajit Verma, who also live in the same area, hit his bicycle with his SUV and fled. Injured Jitendra fell down on the road and raised an alarm. The people of locality gathered around him and went to Ajit's house. They set a motorcycle on fire which was parked at Ajit's gate.
The police reached the spot and arrested four people for setting the motorcycle on fire. The agitators said that Ajit was in an inebriated state. They informed the police about the incident on phone but when cops took no action, the mob surrounded Ajit's house.
