UPPSC paper leak: Kolkata man arrested

VARANASI: A Kolkata resident, accused of leaking papers of UP Public Service Commission's LT grade assistant teacher recruitment exam in July 2018, was arrested in Kashi on Tuesday night.


DSP (Special Task Force), Varanasi field unit, Vinod Kumar Singh said the accused Kaushik Kumar Kar was in town to meet his local

syndicate

links and finalise a deal on leaking papers of the imminent UPPSC exams. Kar runs a printing press in Kolkata.

The STF has handed over Kar to Cholapur police after lodging an FIR.

The LT grade exam in 2018 was scheduled on July 29. Kar, an STF news release said, sent one of his employees - identified as Ashok Dev Chaudhary - with papers of

and social studies to Kashi a day before the exam. Five aspirants, who had together paid Rs 20 lakh, were taken to a skill development centre 10km from town and showed solved answers. Later, the papers were burnt.

Ashok who recorded the incident in his mobile phone turned

, leading to Kar's arrest. The STF is now looking into the role of a UPPSC exam control official in leaking last year's papers. Kar has revealed during interrogation that he paid his local links a 5% cut.
