Gorakhpur: The Gorakhpur police on Monday arrested two persons, Amardeep Sharma and Joginder Sharma, in connection with the brutal murder of one Satyam (24) in Gorakhpur's Gola area on Friday night. The police also recovered a knife and a shovel used in the crime. According to reports, the youth was stabbed to death and his body was dragged nearly 400 meters before being dumped in a wheat field, where it was discovered on Saturday morning.
SP (South) Jitendra Kumar said the two accused were wanted in a case registered under multiple IPC sections and provisions of SC/ST Act. Following the recovery of weapons, additional charges under Arms Act were also added.
Investigations revealed that the accused, along with their associates Brijmohan Sharma and Hemant alias Monu Sharma, killed Satyam over an old rivalry. Police said both the arrested accused have a history of criminal activities. Amardeep Sharma has cases related to rioting and assault lodged against him, while Joginder Sharma has multiple charges, including assault, intimidation, and trespassing.
The recovered weapons have been sent for forensic examination as further investigations continue.
