Varanasi: In the continuing action against mafia elements, the Varanasi Commissionerate Police on Tuesday lodged a case against three members of a notorious gang of land grabbers in the Sigra police station.
After freeing a land valuing around Rs 300 crores of Sri Kasi Nattukkottai Nagara Satram — a
Tamil Nadu based organisation working to offer bhog-prasad at Kashi Vishwanath temple for 209 years — in Mahmoorganj area in May, the police took action against the same mafia who had grabbed the land/shop of a widow in Sampurnanand Colony under Sigra police station area.
“In the latest case, extortion of Rs 3 crores was being sought from a widow in lieu of vacating the possession of land/shop worth crores of rupees grabbed deceitfully by giving the possession to a third person of the gang,” said the commissioner of police A Satish Ganesh.
He said that the investigation has been started by the Anti-Land Mafia Cell after registering a case against Anand Mohan,
Krishna Mohan and Govind Agarwal under appropriate sections in Sigra police station. Both the vicious land mafia — Anand Mohan and Krishna Mohan — are sons of a retired police officer.
Earlier, the police on May 11 had lodged an FIR against Anand Mohan alias Guddu, who had contested 2017 assembly election on SP ticket from Shivpur seat, and his two brothers Krishna Mohan Yadav and
Sanjay Yadav for illegally capturing the land of SKNNS.
They were booked under section 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating), 447 (criminal trespass), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (committing forgery for the purpose of cheating), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC.
