Those who question Sanatan Dharm fail to understand essence of Holi: CM
Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi on Wednesday said that forces driven by positive thinking emerge victorious, while negative forces promote destructive activities. Addressing a ‘Holi milan' function organised at the Gorakhnath temple, the CM said that society is always influenced by two types of forces — those with positive thinking and those with negative thinking. "Negative forces encourage destructive tendencies, whereas positive forces move forward with constructive plans and achieve pleasant outcomes," he said, adding that the joyous celebration of Holi symbolises the result of such positive thinking. He said followers of Sanatan Dharm across the country and the world celebrated Holi with enthusiasm and a sense of pride in their cultural heritage. "Those who question Sanatan Dharm often fail to understand the essence of festivals like Holi," he said.Yogi greeted people, showering flowers on participants and wishing them a happy Holi. The event drew participation from saints, public representatives, and citizens alikeHighlighting the inclusive nature of the festival, Yogi said Holi is a celebration without discrimination or social barriers. "There is neither untouchability nor discrimination in festivals like Holi. Every festival in Sanatan tradition is linked to a significant transformative event and conveys a message for society," he said, adding that such celebrations foster collective participation and social harmony.Referring to the global situation, the chief minister said while many parts of the world are witnessing instability, India continues to celebrate festivals in peace and harmony because of its positive outlook. "India has always believed in doing good for everyone and has never wished ill for others," he said.Calling for greater civic responsibility, Yogi urged citizens to perform their duties with a spirit of "nation first". He said devotion should be linked with patriotism and cited figures from Hindu traditions such as Hanuman, Arjuna and Prahlada as symbols of dedication and faith.During the event, the chief minister also enjoyed Holi songs presented by folk singer Rakesh Srivastava and his team. Actor-politician and MP Ravi Kishan also performed a Holi song on the occasion. The celebrations concluded with Yogi playing flower Holi with attendees, amid a festive atmosphere.
