was allegedly kept hostage at the hostel of a

private nursing college

for 42 days.

The

police rescued the girl

on Thursday and lodged an

FIR at Lanka police station

against the college owner under sections 342 and 506 of IPC for wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation.

According to reports, the nursing student Mamta Kumari, a native of

Shakti Nagar

in Sonbhadra district, posted a complaint on a social media app that she had been made captive in the hostel by the college administration. She also alleged that she was threatened by the college authorities of dire consequences.

The police swung into action and rescued the girl from the hostel on Thursday.

The Lanka SO told TOI that the girl was rescued and FIR was lodged against the college authorities. Further investigation is on, he said.
