VARANASI: A large-scale fraud in appointments and misappropriation of funds in the
education department
has come to the light in
Uttar Pradesh's
Sonbhadra
district.
The police have filed an FIR against 12 persons, including a former district inspector of schools (DIS), and three office staff.
The FIR was lodged by DIS of Sonbhadra, Raj Shekhar Singh, on November 30 has accused them of forging government orders for appointments in the department and drawing salaries.
The case has been lodged under sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for purpose of
cheating
) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of IPC.
“As it is a case of serious nature, FIR was registered on the direction of higher authorities against the persons involved in preparing fake documents for illegal appointments in schools,” the DIS told TOI over phone on Wednesday.
There is a set procedure for the appointment of teachers, but these appointments were made on forged government orders, he said.
The services of illegally appointed staff in Sanskrit Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Robertsganj and Rashtriya Sanskrit Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Taravan, Sonbhadra have already been terminated, he said adding that the money would be recovered from the accused.
Inspector of Robertsganj Kotwali police station Rajiv Mishra told TOI that the investigation is underway in the case and evidence is being collected against the accused.
According to the FIR, it was alleged that the then DIS Prabhuram Chauhan (presently a lecturer in an institute of educational training in Orraiya), in connivance with stenographer Atul Srivastava and accountant Ashok Kumar, who is also the manager of the two schools, allegedly prepared fake government orders for appointment of teachers.
According to the FIR, junior clerk Manoj Chaturvedi, Swati Dipika Srivastava, Minti Mishra, Vijendra Dwivedi and Manoj Chaturvedi were appointed at Sanskrit Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Robertsganj, while Sheshnath Tiwari, Syamsundar Singh, Kaushalendra and Ankush Srivastava were appointed at Rashtriya Sanskrit Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Taravan by submitting fake documents.
