Smuggler with cocaine worth Rs 2.5cr arrested

Varanasi: A joint team of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and Cantt police arrested a notorious drug smuggler, Krishna Mohan Singh, with a consignment of 505 grams of cocaine worth Rs 2.50 crore in Cantonment area on Sunday.Acting on a tip-off, a team from ANTF unit of Varanasi and Ghazipur along with Cantt police cordoned off a road in Cantonment area and intercepted Singh, a resident of Khajuri Pandeypur area. Upon searching his bag, the police found 505 grams of cocaine, following which he was arrested and handed over to Cantt police.The police also recovered an Aadhaar card, Rs 1200 cash, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle from him. Officials said that the seized cocaine was estimated to be worth Rs 2.50 crore in the international market. During investigation, Singh revealed that he procured the consignment of cocaine from Kolkata and was on his way to deliver it in Ghazipur. He confessed his involvment in drug trade for many years.
