Shiv Sainiks protest against Shankaracharya

VARANASI: A group of Shiv Sena activists carried out a boat procession and merged the photograph of Shankaracharya Sawmi Swaroopanand Saraswati in river Ganga near Kedar Ghat on Sunday in protest against his statements on Sai Baba of Sirdi.Sena activists gathered at Dashaswamedh Ghat to carry out a boat procession that ended near Kedar Ghat where Sri Vidya Mutt of Shankaracharya is located upstairs. To mark protest, they merged a photograph of Shankaracharya in Ganga. The activists alleged that by issuing statements against Sai Baba of Sirdi, the Shankaracharya has tried to divide Hindus. Swami Swaroopanand has his connection with Congress, which believes in keeping the people divided for its political gains. They demanded Shankaracharya to stop targeting Sai Baba.
