VARANASI: "The principles of social equality propounded by Bhim Rao Ambedkar have become even more relevant in the contemporary Indian society," observed the vice-chancellor of
Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Lalji Singh.
Singh was addressing a one-day national seminar on 'The relevance of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's ideology in 21st century' at the KN Uddapa auditorium to mark the death anniversary of Ambedkar on Friday
Singh, during his address, urged the youth of all sections of the society to follow the path of the great leader.
He also mentioned the works done by Genome foundation for rural development in Jaunpur and asked the youth to show more participation in such efforts. Singh also spoke about the organisation of SC/ST grievance redressal cell at every level in BHU.
The chief guest at the event, Lalchandra Prasad of BHU praised the efforts of the vice-chancellor regarding addressing the problems of students and faculties belonging to SC and ST through the grievance redressal cell. He said the social inequality needs to be ended.
Also present at the occasion were Vinay Kumar Singh, Ravi Pratap Singh, Sanjay Sonkar, B Ram, Ajay Kumar and Rahul Raj.
Meanwhile, the Varanasi division of North Eastern Railway (NER) also observed the death anniversary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
The divisional railway manager, Varanasi, NER, Ajay Vijayvargiy chaired the event at the Premchand auditorium that saw a large number of railway officials discussing the ideals of the great leader.
