VARANASI: Demanding UP Board examination centres in their own schools scores of girl students staged demonstration and blocked the fleet of PWD and irrigation minister Shivpal Singh Yadav at the district headquarters on Wednesday.
The police had to toile hard to clear the minister’s way. On the assurance by the Minister of state for PWD Surendra Patel the girls cleared the way, but continued dharna at the district headquarters.

These girls belong to those 62 schools, which were not included in the list of UP Board examination centres. They were demanding examination centres in their respective schools for their convenience.
In a memorandum given by the Madyamik Vitta Vihin Shikshak Mahasangh it was stated that the number of examination centres in the district was reduced to 141 from 203 this year. Most of the 62 excluded schools are situated in rural areas, and the students of these schools would have to travel far to appear in the board examination. Some of the students of these schools are physically challenged.
According to the president Jayshankar Dubey, the 62 schools fulfil all the norms meant for the examination centres. These schools had been the examination centres in the past conducting peaceful examination, there was no adverse entry against these schools.
