VARANASI: Absconding accused of embezzlement at the Varanasi regional office of UP Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPPSKNL) was arrested from Robertsganj in Sonbhadra district on Monday.
The accused Sanjay Kumar Verma was carrying a reward of Rs 10,000,
According to reports, Verma, a resident of Nirala Nagar colony, worked as an accountant at the Varanasi office of UPPSKNL.

He, along with three others, including Mahendra Pratap Singh (accountant), Devbrat Rai (clerk) and Ravindra Kumar (computer operator) embezzled around Rs two crore by forgery and cheating.
An FIR was registered against the three at Cantt police station under sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 407 (sriminal breach of trust by carrier, etc), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC in 2019.
While other accused are in jail, Verma, who was out on bail, went absconding. Acting on a tip-off, the crime team of Cantt police nabbed him at Vikas Nagar in Robertsganj. During interrogation, Verma revealed that he was hiding at his sister’s place in Robertrsganj. After arrest, the police brought him to Varanasi.
