Robotics, defence tech to take centre stage at IIT-BHU’s Technex
Varanasi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), BHU will host the 87th edition of Technex 2026, Asia's oldest techno-management festival, from March 13 to 15. With a legacy spanning nearly nine decades, Technex consistently served as a platform for technological exchange, innovation, and collaboration among academia, industry, and students from across the country. The theme for this year's edition is ‘Fragments of Infinity', symbolising the limitless potential of human innovation and the intricate contributions of individual ideas that collectively drive large-scale technological progress.According to the IIT-BHU spokesperson, one of the key highlights of the inaugural day will be a showcase of the Unitree G1 Humanoid Robot, developed by Unitree Robotics, capable of walking, dancing, and performing complex movements. The exhibitions will also feature quadruped robotic systems with terrain demonstrations by Addverb Technologies, neuro-health devices with live demonstrations by Cerbotech, and advanced holographic and 3D mapping technologies presented by Portalgraph, Japan. The day will also include cultural performances by the Skeleton Dance Crew.The event will host its flagship lecture series "Think Talks", bringing together distinguished leaders from diverse fields. The inaugural session will be delivered by the CEO of Ferrari, Benedetto Vigna.Technex '26 will also host a defence symposium and exhibition, organised jointly in collaboration with the 39 GTC, Garhwal Rifles, and the 50 Para Brigade of the Indian Army. The exhibition will present a range of advanced military technologies, including surveillance drones, night-vision equipment, defence vehicles, and modern weapon systems, offering participants valuable insights into contemporary defence technologies and their applications. The festival will also feature hackathons conducted by Jane Street and Tredence, offering students the opportunity to engage with real-world problem statements and develop innovative technological solutions. It will also host a dedicated ODOP exhibition showcasing indigenous products and craftsmanship from across the state.The festival will conclude with a fashion show and Pro Nite, marking the culmination of 3-day of technical competitions, exhibitions, and intellectual engagement.
