Varanasi: The reward amount on Vishnu Mishra, the absconding son of jailed muscleman politician and former
MLA from Gyanpur
Vijay Mishra, has been increased from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 1 lakh by ADG Varanasi zone on the recommendation of Bhadohi police. Both the father and son with six others were booked under Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act 1986 by the Bhadohi police in April.
“Vishnu Mishra, who is the son of the former MLA Vijay Mishra, is wanted in many cases registered in Bhadohi district.
Continuous efforts are being made to arrest him. The reward amount announced for him has been increased from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 1 lakh by ADG Varanasi zone,” said Bhadohi SP Dr. Anil Kumar.
Vijay Mishra was arrested in a dramatic style in Madhya Pradesh on August 14, 2020 and since then he has been in jail while his wife Ramlali and son
Vishnu have been absconding.
The Gopiganj police had booked Vijay Mishra, Vishnu Mishra, Vikas Mishra alias Jyoti, Girdhari Pathak, Hanuman Sevak Pandey, Manish Mishra, Satish Mishra and Suresh Kesarwani under Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act-1986, in April. They were listed as inter-district gang (D-12) in view of the criminal history and activities of the gang.
The Supreme Court had also rejected his bail plea in January this year. A fresh case was lodged on January 21 against his 10 family members, including son Vishnu for not appearing before the court or submitting their reply after notice of property attachment was issued against them in a case of threatening a woman for withdrawing gang rape case. She had lodged the case against Vijay Mishra and 13 others in October 2020. Vijay Mishra’s two nephews have already been arrested in this case.
Vijay Mishra has over 70 criminal cases in his account and 10 cases are being heard in MP/MLA court. He had won Gyanpur seat for three consecutive times, including 2012 election which he contested from jail.
