VARANASI: Special prayer sessions and recitation from the Holy Bible marked the Good Friday. Special prayers were held at churches including St Mary Church, Cantonment, St Thomas Church, Gadualia, Lal Girija ghar, St Paul Church, Sigra, Teliabagh and Sunderpur in memory of Jesus Christ who was crucified on the day. According to Vijay Dayal of Lal Girija ghar, a three hour Good Friday service was organised in the church premises on the occasion.
The sevenfold path of Jesus were also discussed by the masses.
People of Christian community took pledge to follow the path shown by Jesus Christ on the occasion. Earlier, Christian community led by Bishop Raphy Manjaly also carried out a procession in the St Mary’s Church compound. A number of foreign tourists were also present on the occasion to witness the procession. People also participated in group fooding ceremonies, a ritual to cherish the memories of Jesus Christ who took the last meal with his disciples before crucification.
National Seminar: Department of English and other Foreign Languages, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth is going to organise a two-day national seminar in the university premises from March 30 to March 31. Around 60 participants are expected to arrive on the occasion. Scholars, experts and students from various universities will be participating in the seminar.
Alumni Meet: The Alumni Association of Rajarshi School of Management and Technology is organising an alumni meet ‘Atmasat 2013’ in its conference hall on Saturday.
