The FIR, filed by members of the Ananda Marg on February 26, said that land sharks had grabbed land belonging to their ashram with complicity of the local police.

A probe report submitted by SP (rural) to the IG too has admitted to connivance of police officials in this case.

Bhagat too told TOI on Tuesday that SP (rural) has submitted his investigation report in which the connivance of some officials of local police station has been found. “The SSP is being asked to initiate action against the guilty policemen and arrest the accused and book them under Gangster Act,” said Bhagat.

Many officials of Lanka police station have come under scanner, SSP Akash Kulhary told TOI.

None of those named in the FIR -- Ranjit Singh, Rakesh Singh, Rajan, Rajiv Rai, Pravin Pandey, Ram Ujagir and other unidentified people – have been arrested.

Now, director general of police Javeed Ahmed has also sought a report from the IG on this episode.

The Anand Marg sect has its Seva Dharma Mission at Sundarpur, while it had established Anand Marg Ashram on an area of 2.94 acres of land in Lok Vihar Colony of Susuwahi locality about three decades back.

According to Acharya Mantra Chaitanyanand, the ashram had approached the Allahabad High Court against the land consolidation process and got a stay on the possession of the land, where some buildings were constructed.

The Acharya alleged that on February 20, when caretaker Swami Purna Pragyanand was at the ashram alone, land sharks raided the place, held him hostage and demolished all the constructions.

Praygyanand reached mission office at night and reported the matter to other seers of Anand Marg. He alleged that despite calling on police helpline number 100, no policeman turned up on the night of February 20. On February 21, the station officer of Lanka refused to lodge FIR in the case. The Anand Margis met the IG on February 25.
