One dead, seven injured in road mishaps

VARANASI: Before appearing in the BEd examination on Saturday, one aspirant was killed in a road mishap in Jaunpur while seven others sustained serious injuries in other road accident in Mirzapur.
According to reports, Ajay Kumar Singh (26) of Azamgarh had visited Jaunpur on Saturday morning to appear in the BEd examination at a centre in Jalalpur. When he was waiting for transport at Sirkoni, a truck crushed him to death.The truck driver fled from the scene, leaving the vehicle abandoned.
Meanwhile, a jeep, carrying seven BEd candidates from Obra in Sonebhadra district, collided with a truck near Kaudia under Adalhaat police station in Mirzapur. Jeep driver Altaf Ahmed (25) died on the spot while others sustained serious injuries. On noticing the condition of two injured persons as critical, doctors referred them to Varanasi.
