Viral video shows man ‘converting to Sanatan Dharma’

Varanasi: A video that went viral on Tuesday shows a Muslim man embracing Sanatan Dharm amid chanting of Vedic hymns at Vishwanath Temple on the university campus. The proctorial staff of BHU swung into action to gather details of the incident and to ensure prevention of any undesirable occurrences on the campus. The university administration also notifed Lanka police authorities.In the viral video, the man identified as Mahmood Alam is seen undergoing the process of turning to Sanatan Dharm, adopting the name Guddu Lal. He can be heard stating, "I have deep-rooted fascination for Hinduism. Through my close interactions with friends and companions, I have gained invaluable knowledge and insights, which gradually ignited my fervid interest." Chief proctor of BHU, Prof SP Singh, said authorities were gathering details pertaining to the incident. He said, "As a precautionary measure, we have deployed guards around the temple to ensure peace and harmony on the campus. We have verbally apprised Lanka police authorities of the situation."
