Varanasi: Devgaon police in
Azamgarh district arrested a murder accused following an
encounter at Jafaramau Bagh on Saturday.
Providing details of the action, Azamgarh CO (Lalganj) Bhupesh Kumar Pandey said that Devgaon police were busy in a checking drive at Deurpur-Maharajganj, when they received a tip-off about a criminal hiding in a dilapidated house at Jafaramau Bagh. Acting promptly, the cops raided the house, when the accused opened fire. In retaliatory action by the police team, he suffered bullet injury in the leg and was caught. After recovering a country-made pistol, cartridges and motorcycle, police rushed him to hospital.
During interrogation, his identity was confirmed as Raju Nishad of Piyariya village under Kaptanganj police station. During interrogation, he confessed to brutally beating one Roshan Kumar (28) on April 9 after tying him with a tree over a dispute with his minor son. Roshan later succumbed to injuries.
Based on the complaint of Roshan’s mother Prabhavati, police had lodged a case against Raju Nishad, his wife Mundrika Devi and minor son Raj Nishad, and a relative, Khobhari Nishad. Accused Mundrika Devi and Khobhari Nishad were arrested on Friday, while her minor son was produced before juvenile justice board and sent to juvenile reform home in Mau district.
