VARANASI: The mortal remains of martyred sub-inspector

Jai Prakash Singh

were consigned to flames amid full state honour at Manikarnika Ghat on Friday. People in large number as well as police personnel took part in the funeral and paid trubutes to the departed soul.

Singh, a native of Jaunpur district, died in a fierce encounter with dreaded bandit Babuli Kol and his gang in Nihi Chirayya forest in Manikpur area of Chitrakoot district on Thursday.

Earlier, his mortal remains were brought to his ancestral

Banewara village

in Jaunpur district on Thursday night. Thousands of people gathered at his house to pay tributes to the martyr on Friday. UP minister Mahendra Singh, ADG (law and order) Anand Kumar, IG Varanasi zone B Mohapatra, Jaunpur SP

and several other police and administrative officials went to the village to pay homage.

The chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi and DGP Sulkhan Singh also talked to martyr’s father

over phone and expressed their condolence. The minister informed Singh’s father that a financial heldof Rs, 25 lakh from CM’s fund would be provided to the family. Besides, a

financial help

of Rs. 25 lakh would also be provided by the administration. ADG (L&O) informed that 2.50 lakh police personnel of the state have decided to give a day’s salary to the bereaved family.
