Missing girl’s father disappears too; 6 teams probe case

Gorakhpur: A three-year-old girl has been missing for four days from Pipraich area of Gorakhpur and the situation has taken a puzzling turn with the disappearance of her father as well.Initially assisting the police in the search, the father, who works as a labourer, was reportedly behaving suspiciously, often distancing himself from the team under various pretexts. On Sunday, he evaded police and went missing. A police team led by SHO Purushottam Anand Singh visited the village for investigation, police said. The girl, a native of Kushinagar, had come to her maternal grandfather's place from where she went missing on Saturday evening. The family launched a search for her and later lodged a missing report with the police on Saturday midnight. Police initiated an intensive search with the help from NDRF, SDRF, and dog squads. Sniffer dogs twice led police to a nearby pond, however underwater searches led to no result.Six police teams have been formed to solve the case. All angles are being investigated to locate the child soon, said SP Jitendra Srivastav.
