Man poses as CMO to extort med store owner
Gorakhpur: An unidentified person allegedly impersonated as chief medical officer Rajesh Jha and attempted to extort money from a medical store operator in Gorakhpur, police said.According to police, the accused called the medical store owner claiming to be the CMO and demanded money. The operator grew suspicious during the conversation and contacted the actual CMO directly, exposing the fraud attempt.

Following a complaint by the CMO on Sunday evening, the Cantt police registered an FIR and launched investigation. During preliminary probe, police found that the number is registered in the name of a person from Lakhimpur Kheri. However, technical surveillance revealed that the mobile number is currently active in Maharashtra.Police said no financial loss has been reported so far. TNN
