Man booked for keeping two passports in Azamgarh district

, which has been in limelight for its alleged connection with Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives, faced an embarrassing situation when received a complaint that a man keeps two passports with him.

The police booked a resident of

Sikandarpur village in Maharajganj area

, Mohammad Saqib, for keeping two passports with different names. He had also travelled to foreign countries with one of the passports.

The Azamgarh SP Ajay Kumar Sahni

said that a case was registered in this regard and the matter is being investigated.

According to reports, Saqib got his

first passport in the name of Aqibuddin

in 1998, another one in the name of Saqib in 2011. The matter came to light when the gram pradhan reported the matter to police.


The station officer of Maharajganj Vivek Yadav told TOI over phone that an FIR has been registered against him under sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of IPC. He said that the records of LIU verification and other relevant documents are being examined for further action. The police are yet to arrest the man.
