VARANASI: A local girl Rashmi Singh brought laurels to the city emerging as the top rank holder in the Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test 2009 (CPMT). The test was conducted by the Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University.
"I was confident about my ranking in top-10 in merit list," said an elated Rashmi adding that it was nice to see herself on the top of the list.
Though Rashmi cracked the UP CPMT with the highest marks, she wants to pursue the MBBS course in Lady Harding Medical College, Delhi. She is also the 110th rank holder in the CBSE medical test.
A native of small village Hridaypur in Sarnath area, Rashmi did her primary schooling at a local government school and passed the X and XII examinations from Raj English School with 84 and 87 per cent marks respectively. Her elder brother and sister are also pursuing MBBS course while her father BP Singh is an engineer in district rural development agency (DRDA) posted at Robertganj in Sonebhadra district.
"The credit of my success goes to my parents and teachers, who guided me in studies," she told TOI. She received the news of her success on Monday night when she was preparing to go to bed.
JRS Tutorial students shineVARANASI: As many as 146 students of JRS Tutorials including the topper Rashmi Singh got success in the Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test 2009 (CPMT).
According to JRS director AK Jha, all the 146 students are holding ranks among the first 1,000 successful candidates.
