Kashi Court to hear revised plea against Akhilesh, Owaisi

Varanasi: The Varanasi district court on Friday accepted the criminal revision petition filed on behalf of the plaintiff in the Gyanvapi mosque case. District judge AK Vishwesh ordered the issuing of notice to all the defendants in the case and fixed March 25 for the next hearing.Earlier, the court of additional chief judicial magistrate-V (MP-MLA) Ujjwal Upadhyaya on February 15 had rejected the petition seeking filing of case against SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for their alleged remarks on the purported ‘shivling’ found in the Gyanvapi mosque compound.Senior lawyer Harishankar Pandey, who had filed this petition on May 23, 2022, said the said ‘shivling’ was found in the ablution pond of Gyanvapi Mosque on May 16 during a court-mandated survey.He had moved an application before the ACJM-V court demanding filing of case against the politicians and people associated with the mosque management committee (Anjuman Intezamia Masajid), including its president Maulana Abdul Waqi, joint secretary Saiyyed Mohammed Yasin and Mufti-e-Banaras Maulana Abdul Batin Nomani.
