Jan seva kendra robbery case cracked, 3 held after encounter
Varanasi: Jaunpur police on Thursday nabbed three robbers involved in a robbery that occurred on March 11 involving a Jan Seva Kendra operator under the Jaffrabad police station.The robbers were arrested following an encounter with a joint police team from the Jaffrabad and Gaurabadshahpur police stations and SWAT. The police recovered the looted motorcycle, illegal firearms, cartridges and mobile phones from them.According to reports, Nisha Devi, a resident of Gosaipur village, lodged a complaint with the Jaffrabad police station that while her husband Premchandra Yadav was returning from the Jan Seva Kendra, some unidentified persons shot at him and fled after looting his motorcycle, mobile phone and cash kept in a black bag. Based on the information, an FIR was registered under sections 309(4)/109(1) BNS.While conducting checking at Kabulpur Puliya, Jaffrabad SHO Shriprakash Shukla along with SWAT in-charge Amit Kumar Pandey, SHO, Gaurabadshahpur, Praveen Kumar Yadav and others received a tip-off that three criminals who shot the operator were coming from the Kerakat Belaw side on the looted motorcycle, and were also carrying illegal firearms.The police team reached near Belaw bridge and began checking. Just then, seeing three persons coming on a motorcycle from the Kerakat side, the informer identified them. When the police signalled the approaching motorcycle to stop, the robbers opened fire at the police team, in which senior sub-inspector Arvind Kumar Singh of Jaffrabad police station was hit by a bullet in his right hand and a bullet struck the bulletproof jacket of the SHO Jaffrabad.In retaliatory fire by the police, Adarsh Yadav alias Algu, a resident of Vishunpur Baswat in the Gaurabadshahpur police station area, was hit by a bullet. An illegal .32 bore pistol, two live cartridges, three empty cartridge shells and Rs 9,520 in cash were recovered during a body search.Aman Yadav, a resident of Bagthri in the Gaurabadshahpur police station area, sustained an injury on his left leg while fleeing. A mobile phone and Rs 8,780 in looted cash were recovered from him.From Diwakar Kumar, an illegal .315 bore country-made pistol, a misfired cartridge, an empty cartridge shell, a mobile phone and Rs 8,700 were recovered. The injured were sent to Sadar hospital in Jaunpur for treatment.During interrogation, Adarsh Yadav alias Algu confessed that he along with Diwakar Kumar, Aman Yadav, and Anurag Yadav committed the crime. He stated that they got approximately Rs 90,000 in the robbery.Anurag kept all the money with himself and gave them Rs 10,000 each, the looted mobile phone and motorcycle.The Jaunpur assistant superintendent of police/circle officer (city) Goldy Gupta said that legal proceedings are underway.
