VARANASI: Activists of All India Student's Association (AISA) and Inqalabi Naujawan Sabha (INS) staged a dharna at the district headquarters in protest against the fee hike in private schools on Wednesday.
Demanding withdrawal of fee hike and implementation of common education system, the speakers alleged that the administration had failed to put a check on private schools.

They said the just demands of guardians, who had been raising the issue continuously, were going unheard.
State president of AISA Sarita Patel said the education minister had promised to constitute a committee to look into the matter, but nothing had been done so far. "It clearly indicates that the government as well as local administration is shielding the private schools," she claimed.
Demanding a regulatory body at state-level to put a check on the autocratic attitude of private schools, Anup Arya of guardian's association said the government had constituted a higher committee to probe into the matter, but no one knew what happened to its report.
The speakers warned that the agitation would continue until the withdrawal of increased fee structure. They would also intensify their campaign for the implementation of common education system to ensure similar education to all, they said. The dharna was addressed by Rajneesh, Daya Shankar Patel, Purushottam Vijay, Praveen Tripathi and others.
