Andhra Pradesh student sets self on fire at IIT BHU, jumps off college building

VARANASI: A second year student of

mining engineering department

of

IIT-BHU

allegedly set himself afire and jumped from the hostel on the

institute campus

late Tuesday evening.

He was rushed to Sir Sunder Lal hospital of the university where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Though the police did not find a suicide note, Dara J Bhima Raju, a native of Nellore in Andhra, was allegedly under depression and had been performing poorly in academics.

Station officer (SO) Lanka Devendra Singh said, “Our initial investigations say Raju was under depression. He was an average student till the last semester, but his grades started dropping thereafter.“
