IIT-BHU job fair begins with Rs1.6cr package

Varanasi: The Phase-I of the placement drive at IIT-BHU, which is being held from Dec 1 to Dec 10, began with a package of Rs 1.67 crore offered to a student on Monday. The minimum package stood at Rs 47.19 lakh. In the first slot of the first day, 55 companies gave 209 offers.The placement season already gained exceptional traction, with 280 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) from 70 companies extended to students prior to the formal commencement of campus interviews—a strong indicator of the continued trust the industry places in the Institute's students. Besides, 443 paid internships for pre-final year students were offered by 98 companies. A total of 489 students received job offers from 125 companies during this period.The campus placements for the 2025-26 session began at midnight on Sunday. A total of 1,701 students, including 1,100 BTech students, 550 MTech and IDD students and 40 PhD students, are participating in the 2025-26 placement season.In the first phase of placements, around 330 national and international companies will interview the students. These participating companies represent various sectors, including core engineering, software, analytics and consulting.On the eve of the commencement of the placement drive, IIT-BHU director Prof Amit Patra reviewed the placement preparation. The coordinator, training and placement cell, Prof Sushant Kumar Srivastava, co-coordinator Dr Surya Dev Yadav, Dean R&D, Prof Rajesh Kumar, Prof Kishor P Sarwadekar and Prof Vinod Mishra accompanied the director to provide details of all arrangements.
