GORAKHPUR: The spurned lover who had killed a middle-aged man, his wife and elder daughter in Khorabar police station area of Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district, was arrested after an encounter by police in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Narrating the sequence of events, Gorakhpur police said after they nabbed the accused Alok Paswan, for the murder of Gama Nishad (42), his wife Sanju (38), his daughter Preeti (20) and took him to the spot for recovery of the weapon, the accused snatched the pistol of one of the guards and tried to escape by opening fire.
The cops present on the spot first warned Alok to surrender but the former opened fire on the police team, following which the cops retaliated and shot the right leg of Alok. Seconds after which the accused slumped on the ground and was taken to a government hospital for a check-up.
"Alok is recuperating in the district hospital, and is out of danger," said Shyam Deo, police circle officer, Cantonment.
The officer also said that police had recovered a sharp-edged weapon which had been sent to the forensic department. The weapon was used to slit the necks of the victims.
On Monday night, barely 800 meters away from the house of the victims at Bangla Chowk in Raiganj area under Khorabar police station limit, when the three were going to attend a wedding ceremony at the house of his brother Rama Nishad’s house, the accused had attacked them enraged over Preeti's wedding being fixed to somebody else.
