Gorakhpur has emerged as a devpt model under PM’s guidance: Yogi

Gorakhpur: CM Yogi on Saturday said that Gorakhpur has emerged as a "model of development", asserting that the state is progressing rapidly under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi.

After inaugurating the city's fifth Kalyan Mandapam in the Jungle Tulsiram area, the CM said development was visible at every level in Gorakhpur. The newly built facility, constructed by the Gorakhpur Development Authority at Rs 2.47 crore from his MLA fund, aims to provide affordable, modern amenities for weddings and social functions.





CM Yogi said that until 15–20 years ago, people organised marriages on roadsides under tents due to limited infrastructure. "Today, not everyone can afford expensive hotels or marriage halls. Kalyan Mandapams has similar facilities at minimal user charges," he said, adding that five such centres are operational in the city, with more under construction in different localities.

Taking a swipe at previous regimes, the CM said, "Earlier govts indulged in dishonesty and brought disease. We have stopped corruption and eliminated illness." He claimed that diseases such as encephalitis, once a major concern in the region, have been effectively controlled under the present dispensation.

Highlighting infrastructure upgrades, the CM said Bichhia, once plagued by poor roads and waterlogging, is now being transformed into a model of urban planning with improved drainage and roads.
