Gorakhpur: District magistrate (DM)
Deepak Meena on Friday inspected erosion-hit Bagha Dewar village in Barhalganj area, where the Sarayu river is steadily cutting into the land. Accompanied by Chillupar MLA Rajesh Tripathi, the DM reviewed the erosion site and directed flood control department officials to expedite protection work.
Finding poor conditions at the local primary school, Meena instructed Gola SDM to identify an alternative land. He also asked for a rehabilitation plan to relocate families affected by erosion. Warning officials that negligence would not be tolerated, he directed them to monitor both protection work and related activities closely.
After visiting the erosion site, the DM inspected a relief camp under construction at the upper primary school in Patna village. He instructed the public works department (PWD) to not only take immediate measures to prevent road erosion in Bagha Dewar, but also prepare and submit a long-term anti-erosion project to the government.
