VARANASI: To let the electors have a ‘festive feel’ during the biggest carnival of democracy on day of polling on March 8, the district administration will make at least five model polling booths in each of the eight Assembly constituencies in the district.
The model polling booths will be made in a way that it encourages electors to step out and vote while giving them a pleasant experience.
The buildings housing the booths will be well-furnished and best of facilities will be provided as compared to other polling stations.
Basic facilities like electricity, drinking water and toilets will be ensured in such booths. Besides additional chairs for voters in queue and restrooms will be arranged along with wheelchairs for disabled voters.
When contacted district election officer and district magistrate Yogeshwar Ram Mishra said, “We have decided to set up at least five model polling stations in each constituency with provision of maximum facilities so that the voters don’t face any hassle.”
Two divyang mitras will also be deployed at over 160 polling booths to facilitate the divyang (differently-abled) and wheelchairs will also be provided to them, he said.
